Dawn Louise Sims is a freelance Artist and Illustrator based in Devon in the South-west of England. She was born in Southend-on-sea in Essex into a dysfunctional yet creative family.
Dawn takes her inspiration from many things such as the human form, animals, symmetry, textures, natural landscapes, vegetation, children's toys, life and death and her personal experiences of love and intimacy. She has a strong artistic interest in human emotions and how childhood experiences shape the self and regularly delves into and attempts to express both her own and other peoples accounts of youth and childhood.
Her illustrative work utilises a range of media. Dawn uses mixtures of pencil, pen, ink, acrylic, watercolour and digital and enjoys the differing stages of development this produces throughout the creative process. Through this process of working with many different mediums Dawn has become a versatile artist, she takes us on a constantly evolving creative journey that keeps each piece new, exciting and fresh.
